Architect Works, PLLC is dedicated to developing well-designed solutions for residential and small-scale commercial projects that are straightforward, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible. The work of the firm has received several awards and has been nationally published. The firm focuses on custom residential projects, office and retail commercial projects, and adaptive reuse projects. Architect Works also provides design consulting and other services.

 

Donna Kacmar, FAIA was educated at Texas A+M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design in 1988 and a Master of Architecture in 1992. Donna is a National American Institute of Architects 2004 Young Architects Award recipient and was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 2009. Donna has served on multiple boards including the Houston AIA, Avenue CDC, Rice Design Alliance, Architecture Center Houston Foundation, Texas Society of Architects, and AIA Strategic Council. Donna has taught at Rice University, and Texas A&M University, and is currently a Professor at the University of Houston where she teaches architecture design studio. She also founded the Materials Research Collaborative (MRC) and recently completed the Parsons School of Design Healthy Materials Advocate program. Her Fisher Street House, a small 544-square-foot dwelling, received a 2013 AIA Houston Design Award and led to her first book, Big Little House, published by Routledge and released in 2015. Her edited book on the work of Victor Lundy was published in 2018 by Princeton Architectural Press and her most recent book, Big Little Hotel, was published in March 2023. Donna is the principal of Architect Works, PLLC.

 

Jonathan Myers, AIA, RID, CCM graduated from the University of Houston College of Architecture. He is an architect and registered interior designer who also holds a construction management certification from Louisiana State University. His core competencies include project conception, feasibility, development, and delivery as well as construction management. Jonathan has designed and managed interior projects for institutions, offices, and hospitality clients nationwide and in Houston, Texas. In addition, he has led luxury retail projects and acted as client contact for national roll-outs in numerous cities. Jonathan has over three decades of experience in the project architect role and in contract administration for commercial, institutional, and residential clients. Jonathan brings his vast knowledge of design, development, detailing, and construction to Architect Works, PLLC.
